Veterans Day and Eternal Flame Dedication
On November 12, 2011 the Eternal Flame statue was dedicated to veterans from Arlington Heights. This statue serves as the centerpiece of the newly revived Memorial Park in Arlington Heights. Designed by noted Arlington Heights sculptor, Fran Volz, the Eternal Flame is a 13′ tall bronze sculpture in the shape of a flame. The Eternal Flame sculpture represents our eternal remembrance and gratitude for the service and sacrifice of our veterans and their families.
The Arlington Camera Club has been involved in recording the construction, installation, and dedication of this statue. ACC members not only covered the dedication, but also photographed the special Veterans breakfast that was held on the Museum grounds before the dedication ceremony. A WWII re-enactment group cooked the breakfast in a field kitchen and provided a great meal, with time for fellowship that was enjoyed by all the veterans.
